The lead sponsor of the Shoreline Protection Act which helped preserve and protect historic Charleston landmarks like Captain Sam's Spit, Peter has been awarded the 2016 Coastal Stewardship Award from the Coastal Conservation League and the the House Conservation Leadership Award from the Conservation Voters of South Carolina for leading on clean energy and conservation issues, including his strong opposition to offshore oil drilling.
